I Pagliacci: Real life intrudes upon the stage play, overtaking and bringing it to a searing end, while the audience looks on, flabbergasted.
My Fair Galatea: The story of Pygmalion’s ravishingly beautiful statue which, when brought to life, turns out to be a handful when she falls in love with the other man. The composer, incidentally, is reputed to be the “Father of Viennese Operetta,” a well-deserved title.
