sfSound Group remembers George Crumb (1929–2022) and Sylvano Bussotti (1931–2021), two composers known for their use of non-traditional notation. Bussotti’s classic graphic score Autotono (1958-1978) for open ensemble is bookended by Crumb’s Eleven Echoes of Autumn (Echoes I)(1965/66) and Dream Sequence (Images II) (1976). Visiting from New York City, Yarn/Wire performs the West Coast premiere of Catherine Lamb’s Curvo Totalitas (2017) for two synthesizers, steel sheet, and tam tam.
